5-21-10 – 5-23-10
Start of my great adventure – leaving home and Buffalo, the flight to Ben Gurion International Airport, first days in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and the first visit to the Western Wall.

5-24-10 – 5-25-10

Visits to the JDC – Eshel program offices, Melabev dementia care program, Gerontech, stroll through the Mamila pedestrian mall, Jerusalem Old City shopping, sites (including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre) and new friends, evening in West Jerusalem, and a trip and dip in the Dead Sea.

5-26-10 – 5-28-10
The start of our great Compassionate Listening group adventure – views from the Ecce Homo convent, talk overlooking Bethlehem and Beit Jala on a windy morning, meeting with Amotz Asa-El (Senior Columnist, Jerusalem Post), waiting for Gilad Shalit in front of the Prime Minister’s residence, Women in Black and Sheik Jarrah Friday demonstrations, the Tomb of Shimon HaTsadik, and off to Breslev synagogue and yeshiva for Shabbat.

5-29-10 – 5-30-10
Saturday and Sunday of our first week together – Hebron, visit with Hashem and family, dinner and dance at the Everest Hotel in Beit Jala, Bethlehem, Church of the Nativity, visit with Farhan Alqam (former Mayor of Beit Ummar), and dinner and listening with Wounded Across Borders members. A busy weekend.

5-31-10
A Monday close encounter with the barrier wall, visit to the Holy Land Trust, Phil’s magic hands, and listening at kibbutz Kfar Etzion.

6-1-10 – 6-2-10
Bethlehem University, Al-Arroub refugee camp, Ein Kerem, Notre Dame de Sion convent, St. John Ba-Harim church, kids, tall guy, motorcycle, kite, keys, bees, Jesus feet and more.

6-3-10
Sderot, turkey testicles for lunch, the Three Arches YMCA and King David hotels.

6-4-10
Bat mitzvah video photo shoot, visit with Naftali Lau-Lavie and Shabbat at Efrat.

6-5-10
The Jerusalem Great Synagogue, final Compassionate Listening Project session, practicing for Itzhak Perlman, fond farewells, lunch and a shave in the Old City.

6-6-10
Goodbye to Jerusalem and the Three Arches, camel rides, drive to the Galilee, Gan Hashlosha, first view of the Sea of Galilee, Maimonides Tomb in Tiberias, and Capernaum.

6-7-10
Tabgha, the Church of Heptapegon (“Seven Springs”) / Loaves and Fishes, Mount of Beatitudes, Tel Dan nature reserve, Tel Fahr in the Golan Heights, lunch, Bedouin sales, supermarket, and swimming in the Sea of Galilee.

6-8-10
Heading back to Tel Aviv, Caesarea, picnic at the Roman aqueduct, drive past Herzliya, dinner at Gordo, and fond farewells between Compassionate Listeners.

6-9-10
Train to Haifa, the Ba’hai Shrine and Gardens, German Colony, birds, Haifa dockyards, train back to Tel Aviv, and clean laundry delivered to my hotel room.

6-10-10
The Milbat Center, Sheba/Tel Hashomer Hospital, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Rabin Square, and sunset in Tel Aviv.

6-11-10
Last looks at Tel Aviv, United States Embassy, Old Jaffa, Ilana Goor’s museum/gallery/home, the Ayalon Institute, Shabbat dinner with Jeri and family, then home.

6-12-10
The trip home, welcome back, mini-hookahs, and camel leather purse.
